Meet volunteers july 12.xlsx

We ask that parents or guardians volunteer at each swim meet whether home or away.  It is our obligation and a great way to make new and long lasting friends.

If you have questions contact: volunteer@tarringtonswimteam.org

With your help the Tarrington Swim Team is a great summer activity for our children.  The Tiger Sharks rely completely on parent support! Therefore signing up to help with meets is mandatory.

We have 3 home and 3 away meets.  Away meets require fewer volunteers.   Volunteers for most positions are asked to serve in either the first or the second half of the meet only.

It is expected that if you have a child swimming in a meet then a parent  is volunteering in one of the following positions:

  • Timer (Avg. 28 Volunteers) – Use stop watch to time each swim event.  Click HERE to download timer guidelines.

  • Runner (6 per meet) – Pick-up cards from timers, sweep judges, and officials  and deliver to the scorer’s table.
  • Table Worker (2 per meet) – Help score the meet, print results, and label ribbons.
  • Hospitality (6 per meet)  - Make sure each worker gets beverages during the meet.
  • Clerk of Course (4 per meet)– Organize swimmers in their heats & lanes for each event.
  • Mite Parent (3 per meet) – Help get the mites and youth swimmers lined up and to the blocks for their events.
  • Strokes and Turns (6 per meet)– Checks the swimmers for proper strokes and turns – this position requires training.  Click HERE to download strokes and turns guidelines.

  • Starter (1 per meet) – Starts each event – this position requires training.
  • Concessions – Sell snacks/grill items for our home meets.

Another great way to support your child’s summer is to get involved in the support positions that make this swim team great! We can always use parents who care to get in the action.

Become a Committee Volunteer – Several committees have been formed to help Tarrington Swim Team run smooth and be fun!  The following are committees that need your help!  Please consider volunteering on one of the following committees (sign up at posted list at registration).

  • Fundraising Committee: Develop, organize and run fundraising activities to help bring in money to help support swim team activities.
  • T² -Tiger Teens Youth Group Committee: Develop, organize and run a committee aimed at developing team morale and fun activities for our older swimmers.
  • Social Committee:  Coordinate social opportunities (such as the Awards Ceremony, fun days, and team morale parties).
